The type of skin cancer surgery you will need will depend upon the type of skin cancer that you have. Most skin cancer surgery consists of a simply removal of the affected area right in the office of the dermatologist. Skin cancer surgery usually consists of a shot of anesthetic and the excision of the skin cancer.

In many cases, particularly with Basal Cell Carcinoma, there is more than one area that has to be removed and skin cancer surgery can last for up to an hour. In other instances, the skin cancer surgery can last only fifteen minutes. There are three different types of skin cancer. Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma are both very common, Basal Cell Carcinoma even more so.
