Chennai - the jewel of South India serves as the capital of Tamil Nadu
and is also the fourth largest city of India. Its foundation dates back
to the year 1639 when the British East India Company was granted land
to build a trading settlement by the local ruler (Nayak) of the suburb
of Vandavasi, Damerla Venkatapathy Nayak. The land grant day (Aug 22nd)
